Job summary

LCM Environmental Group is seeking an experienced General Construction Labourer with a strong background in groundworks to join our team in Ireland. You will perform civil and structural ground prep from excavation to finishing external works, working alongside machinery operators and site management to deliver projects safely and on time.

A valid digger ticket is a major advantage; candidates should have a full clean Irish driving licence and Safe Pass.

Qualifications

• Full clean Irish driving licence.
• Experience in groundworks and general construction labour.
• Up to date Safe Pass, Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Confined space training.
• Digger ticket (Excavator operator license) is highly advantageous; experience with dumpers, rollers, compactors, cement mixers.
• Experience directing/banks Manning heavy machinery like excavators.
• Site maintenance and safety knowledge per regulations.
• Ability to follow site plans and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Site Clearance & Preparation: Clear vegetation, topsoil, debris, and structures to prepare the site for excavation.
• Excavation & Trenching: Dig trenches manually and assist plant operators for foundations and drainage.
• Drainage & Pipework Installation: Lay stormwater and foul drainage pipes and install manholes.
• Foundations & Concrete Work: Set up formwork, place reinforcement, pour and finish concrete for foundations and slabs.
• Hard Landscaping & External Works: Install kerbs, paving, flagstones, and edging; prepare sub-bases.
• Utility & Service Ducting: Trench and install ducting for cables and water mains.
• Plant Operation & Support: Operate small site machinery and act as banksman.
• Site Maintenance & Safety: Set up barriers and maintain a clean, safe work area.

Job description

Job description: We are seeking an experienced General Construction Labourer with a strong background in groundworks to join our team. In this role, you will carry out a variety of civil and structural ground preparation tasks, from initial excavation to finishing external works. You will work alongside machinery operators and site management to deliver projects safely, on time, and to a high standard.

A digger ticket (360 Excavator) is a major advantage for this position.

Key Responsibilities

• Site Clearance & Preparation: Clear vegetation, topsoil, debris, and existing structures to prepare the site for excavation and construction.
• Excavation & Trenching: Dig trenches manually and assist plant operators with machinery for foundations, utility pipelines, and drainage runs.
• Drainage & Pipework Installation: Lay stormwater and foul drainage pipes, and install gullies, inspection chambers (manholes), and drainage channels.
• Foundations & Concrete Work: Set up formwork/shuttering, place reinforcing steel mesh/rebar, and pour, spread, and vibrate concrete for strip footings, raft foundations, and floor slabs.
• Hard Landscaping & External Works: Install precast concrete kerbs, block paving, flagstones, and edging. Prepare sub-bases for tarmacking, access roads, and footpaths.
• Utility & Service Ducting: Trench and install essential ducting for electricity cables and water mains.
• Plant Operation & Support: Operate small site machinery (e.g., forward-tipping dumpers, rollers, compactors, cement mixers) and act as a banksman to safely direct heavy excavators.
• Site Maintenance & Safety: Set up site barriers/fencing and maintain a clean, organized work area in strict alignment with Health & Safety regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Full clean Irish Driving Licence;
• Experience: Proven, hands-on experience specifically in groundworks and general construction labour.
• Certifications: Up to date Safe Pass, Manual Handling, Working at Heights, Confined space training;
• Machinery Tickets: A valid digger ticket (Excavator operator license) is highly advantageous. Experience operating forward tipping dumpers, rollers, compactors and cement mixers is also preferred.
• Experience of directing/banks manning heavy machinery like excavators.
• Site Maintenance and Safety Skills: Knowledge and experience setting up barriers/fencing, maintaining a clean, safe work area in line with Health & Safety Regulations.
• Strong understanding of drainage layouts, concrete handling, and site safety practices. Ability to follow site plans and verbal instructions accurately.
