Job summary

Electric Skyline Limited in Ireland is seeking a Civils General Operative / Groundworker to support civil engineering projects on-site. The role involves assisting with foundations, drainage, ducting, and site preparation under supervision, with a focus on safety and efficient execution.

You will work as part of a team across construction sites, operating basic plant and machinery, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications

• Experience in civil engineering construction and groundworks

• Understanding of construction site health and safety regulations

• Experience with utility installations or roadworks is advantageous

Responsibilities

• Assist with excavation, trenching, ducting and backfilling for foundations, utilities, roads, and drainage systems.
• Support the laying of drainage pipes, ducts, and manholes.
• Chamber install and reinstatement
• Excavation around live services
• Handle and prepare materials such as concrete, asphalt, aggregate and other construction resources
• Dig, level, and compact ground to prepare sites for construction or roadworks
• Clear construction sites of debris, rubble and waste materials
• Operate construction plant and machinery under supervision, including mini excavators, dumpers, rollers and power tools
• Set up and maintain site safety signage, barriers and fencing to ensure safety of workers and the public
• Help implement traffic management plans for safe vehicle and pedestrian movement around the site
• Support the maintenance of safe working practices by following site-specific safety rules
• Perform general labouring tasks such as digging, lifting, carrying, and moving materials

Job Summary

Reporting to the Project Manager, we currently have a vacancy for a Civils General Operative / Groundworker. This position plays a vital role in supporting civil engineering projects by assisting with a wide range of tasks on construction sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with excavation, trenching, ducting and backfilling for foundations, utilities, roads, and drainage systems.
• Support the laying of drainage pipes, ducts, and manholes.
• Chamber install and reinstatement

• Handle and prepare materials such as concrete, asphalt, aggregate, and other construction resources.

Essential experience necessary

• Previous experience working in civil engineering, construction, or a related field.
• Basic knowledge of civil engineering construction techniques (groundworks, drainage, concrete).
• Ability to operate manual tools and small machinery safely.
• Understanding of construction site health and safety regulations and procedures.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and follow instructions.
• Experience with utility installations (e.g., water, gas, electric) or roadworks.
• Knowledge of traffic management and safety procedures
• Awareness of working on public roads and traffic management requirements

Required Qualifications

• Full Category B Irish driver’s license

• MEWP, Tower Scaffold, Abrasive Wheels Cards
• Category C Irish driver’s license/ trailer license
• Electrical awareness training
• HIAB experience
• Abrasive Wheels training
• SLG Card
• CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or equivalent certification
