Job summary

MEP Connections is seeking a Principal Design Engineer to head the new Galway office. This senior leadership role can be filled by a mechanical or electrical engineer with strong technical ability and project leadership experience.

You will lead local operations, shape the office's growth, and work on a diverse portfolio spanning education, public sector, heritage, and commercial developments. Hybrid working and a focus on development are offered.

Qualifications

Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or a closely related discipline).
Chartered Engineer status (or working towards it).
8+ years experience in a building services design role with leadership on complex projects.

Responsibilities

Lead the Galway office and manage all aspects of team performance and project delivery.
Deliver high-quality mechanical or electrical design across a range of building projects.
Ensure projects meet performance, quality, and budget expectations.
Act as a key point of contact for clients and strengthen long-term relationships.
Develop the Galway office including business development and recruitment.
Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and career growth.
Champion best practice and sustainability-led design within the team.
