Job summary

Kids Inc. is hiring an Afterschool Childcare Assistant fluent in Irish (Gaeilge) to join the Gaelscoil Shliabh Rua team in Dublin 18. The role focuses on creating an immersive Irish-language environment after school, supporting homework, play, and development in a warm, inclusive setting.

The position is on-site at Gaelscoil Shliabh Rua with a guaranteed minimum of 10 hours per week and typical 20–25 hours. Garda Vetting will be required.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children is preferred.
• Fluent spoken Irish (Gaeilge) – confident conversing with children and staff entirely in Irish.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Positive, reliable and enthusiastic attitude.
• Willingness to complete Garda Vetting and reference checks.

Responsibilities

• Help children settle after school and support a smooth transition to the afternoon programme.
• Assist with homework in a calm, structured environment using Gaeilge where appropriate.
• Lead and participate in activities (sports, arts, crafts, imaginative play, outdoor play) through Irish.
• Support children’s social, emotional, physical and creative development.
• Build positive relationships with children, families and colleagues through the Irish language.
• Assist with day-to-day running of the service and maintain a safe, inclusive environment.
