Job summary

Hilltop Community Resources in Grand Junction, CO is seeking a dedicated cook to prepare nutritious meals for residents at The Commons. This full-time role emphasizes safety, sanitation, and teamwork, with a schedule Friday-Monday 6 am–2:30 pm.

You will follow state health regulations, prep from scratch, assist with catering, and maintain temperature logs. A high school diploma or GED and a Food Handler's Card are required, along with 3–6 months kitchen experience.

An overview of this position entails…This position is responsible for preparing nutritional and attractive meals for residents at The Commons.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior that align with the values of Hilltop's Assisted living Communities (ALCs), including Service 1, how we treat each other, and Service 2, how we treat our residents. Service 1 and Service 2 is demonstrated by setting boundaries, being predictable, consistent, kind, and transparent.

2. Complete basic meal specials, daily prep cooking duties, basic soups, sauces, and desserts from scratch and to the Food Service Manager's Specifications.

3. Prepare and plate meal orders utilizing proper food handling and presentation.

4. Follow all Mesa County and Colorado Department of Health regulations to proper food handling including proper hand washing, temperature logs, and sanitizing of food service equipment.

5. Ensure food and supplies are at correct temperature and condition when received. Rotate and stock supplies according to health codes and Food Service Manager's specifications.

6. Assist with catering duties as needed.

7. Assist with cleaning, sanitizing, and safely stories dishes, glasses, utensils, pots, pans, bus tubs, etc. Deep clean, sweep, and mop as assigned.

8. Inspecting and maintaining proper chemicals for the dishwasher.
