Job summary

iLabs is a global software product engineering company seeking a junior developer to join their on-site team in Battaramulla. You will work with NestJS, React, and Laravel to build web apps, APIs, and responsive front ends, using MySQL, MongoDB, and OrientDB.

The role emphasizes learning, collaboration, and maintaining quality code. The position requires 1–2 years of experience, knowledge of Git, RESTful APIs, and modern JS/TS, with a focus on security, scalability, and Agile practices.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of professional software development experience.
• Hands-on experience with NestJS and React, along with PHP and Laravel.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, CSS, and responsive web development.
• Hands-on experience with MySQL, MongoDB, and OrientDB, including database design, data modeling, and querying.
• Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs.
• Working knowledge of Git, including branching, merging, and pull requests.
• Understanding of object-oriented programming, MVC architecture, and software design principles.
• Familiarity with authentication, authorization, web security, testing, debugging, caching, and queues.
• Basic understanding of microservices architecture and Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools, such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or Gemini, within development workflows.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Ability to write clean, maintainable code and learn new technologies.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and enhance web applications using NestJS, React, and Laravel.
• Build and integrate RESTful APIs, third-party services, and backend systems.
• Develop responsive, user-friendly front-end interfaces using React.
• Work with MySQL, MongoDB, and OrientDB to design data models, write queries, and improve database performance.
• Troubleshoot, test, debug, and resolve technical issues to ensure application security and reliability.
• Assist with implementing authentication, authorization, caching, and background job processing.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain clean, testable, and well-documented code.
• Use Git for version control and collaborative development.
• Support application deployment and maintenance in Linux, cloud, or hosting environments.
• Use AI-assisted development tools and AI agents to support coding, testing, documentation, and problem-solving, while reviewing and validating generated outputs.
