Job summary

South Dublin County Council is seeking a reliable Driver/General Operative to join its fleet and housing maintenance teams in Tallaght, Dublin 24.

You will operate council vehicles, perform routine maintenance, drive, and support the crew with repairs and waste removal, while keeping records of journeys and checks. A good standard of English is required, with readiness for night or weekend duties as needed.

Qualifications

• Valid CPC qualification and up-to-date Health and Safety training.
• Experience with vehicle maintenance and daily checks is desirable.
• Ability to operate lifting equipment and use council vehicle systems.

Responsibilities

• Drive a lorry/van or Council vehicle as assigned.
• Carry out general operative duties with the crew.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance and daily checks.
• Record daily operations in vehicle logbook and apps.
• Ensure compliance with SDCC policies and safety regulations.
• Assist housing maintenance tasks and waste removal as required.
• Available for night, weekend, or other duties when needed.
