TOM People is seeking a financially astute Finance Controller for an Ireland-based, office-based role in Dublin. You will oversee financial control and provide commercial insight across a project-based business, reporting to senior leadership and collaborating with operational teams.

The role demands ACA/ACCA/CIMA with 6–10 years PQE in project/construction contexts, strong project accounting, WIP, and revenue recognition, plus proven leadership of a finance team.

  • Strong knowledge of project accounting, WIP, contract profitability and revenue recognition.
  • Experience supporting senior management with commercial and strategic decision-making.
  • Commercially minded with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience managing and developing a finance team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reporting and performance analysis, providing clear and commercially relevant insights to senior stakeholders.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, rolling forecasts and financial modelling, helping the business understand future performance, opportunities and potential risks.
  • Partner with operational and commercial stakeholders to assess financial performance and provide financial input into key business decisions.
  • Monitor revenue, costs, margins and overall business performance, identifying trends, variances and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide financial oversight across a portfolio of projects and contracts, ensuring accurate cost tracking, profitability analysis, forecasting and reporting.
  • Own cash flow forecasting and working capital performance, supporting strong cash generation and financial efficiency.
  • Maintain a robust control environment across financial reporting, compliance, risk management and governance.
  • Manage the annual audit process with external advisors on tax, statutory reporting and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial processes, reporting and systems, driving efficiency, accuracy and visibility.
  • Lead and develop the finance team while acting as a trusted financial partner to senior management and wider stakeholders.
  • Provide financial analysis and insight to support investment decisions, business cases, strategic planning and growth initiatives.

Job description

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a broad and commercially focused position, which would suit someone with financial control experience from a project-based business. The successful candidate will work closely with senior leadership and operational teams, providing both financial control and commercial insight across the business.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly management accounts, financial reporting and performance analysis, providing clear and commercially relevant insights to senior stakeholders.

ABOUT THE PERSON:

This is an office based role requiring the person to be on-site 5 days per week.
