Job summary

Sigmar Recruitment is seeking a high-calibre Financial Accountant for a major manufacturing operation in Ireland, reporting to the Head of Finance & IT. The role covers costing, inventory, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, with strong emphasis on process improvement and financial control.

Big 4 audit experience is essential. The successful candidate will partner with operational and commercial teams to translate financial data into actionable business insight.

Qualifications

• Fully Qualified Accountant with Big 4 audit experience.
• Strong grounding in financial reporting, controls and accounting.
• Proven manufacturing finance experience with understanding of operational finance.
• Knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis and manufacturing cost structures.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling.

Responsibilities

• Drive improvements to financial processes, workflows, reporting and internal controls.
• Lead costing activities with standard costing and variance analysis for manufacturing performance.
• Own inventory accounting including valuation, obsolescence provisions and annual stocktake.
• Contribute to annual budgets and rolling forecasts with robust analysis.
• Develop financial models and business cases for CapEx and investments.
• Analyse product profitability, margins and cost-saving opportunities.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement and Commercial to improve performance.
• Identify inefficiencies and implement improvements to processes and reporting.
• Provide informed financial challenge to stakeholders with actionable analysis.

FINANCIAL ACCOUNTANT

An established organisation with significant manufacturing operations is seeking a high-calibre Financial Accountant reporting to the Head of Finance & IT. This commercially focused role covers costing, inventory, budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis, with a strong emphasis on process improvement and financial control. The successful candidate will partner with operational and commercial teams to turn financial data into actionable business insight. Big 4 audit experience is essential.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive improvements to financial processes, workflows, reporting and internal controls, improving accuracy and reducing month-end close times.
• Lead costing activities, including standard costing, material, labour and overhead variance analysis, providing clear insight into manufacturing performance.
• Own inventory accounting, including valuation, obsolescence provisions and the annual physical stocktake process.
• Contribute to annual budgets and rolling forecasts, providing robust financial analysis to support operational planning and decision-making.
• Develop financial models and business cases to support CapEx and other investment decisions.
• Analyse product profitability, margin movements and cost‑saving opportunities, identifying commercial risks and improvement opportunities.
• Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement and Commercial teams to improve financial and operational performance.
• Identify inefficiencies and implement practical improvements to processes, controls and financial reporting.
• Provide informed financial challenge to stakeholders, ensuring decisions are supported by accurate and commercially relevant analysis.

REQUIREMENTS

• Fully Qualified Accountant with Big 4 audit experience – essential.
• Strong technical grounding in financial reporting, controls and accounting.
• Proven manufacturing finance experience with a strong understanding of operational finance.
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, variance analysis and manufacturing cost structures.
• Experience across inventory accounting, valuation and stocktake processes.
• Experience with budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling.
• Strong commercial and analytical capability, with the ability to translate complex financial data into clear recommendations.
• Proven experience improving financial processes, controls and reporting.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement and Commercial functions.
• A rigorous, commercially minded approach with the ability to challenge assumptions and influence business decisions.
