CREGG, based in Little Island, Cork, seeks an experienced Financial Accountant to drive financial reporting, management accounts and budgeting. You will manage cash, controls and statutory compliance in a broad, commercial role reporting to Group Finance Manager.

The role offers exposure to senior management, pricing and margins analysis, and working capital optimization within an operational environment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified accountant with ACA/ACCA/CIMA or equivalent and 3+ years post-qualification experience.
  • Strong management accounting and month-end reporting experience.
  • Manufacturing or operational industry experience is highly desirable.
  • Strong financial analysis and IFRS knowledge.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the month-end close process and prepare monthly management accounts.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity.
  • Monitor cash flow and working capital.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.
  • Oversee weekly payroll and payroll controls.
  • Maintain financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Manage statutory returns including Irish VAT, VAT for UK and Intrastat.
  • Liaise with auditors, tax advisors and financial institutions.
  • Review pricing and monitor product margins for profitability.
  • Provide financial analysis and commercial insight to senior management.
  • Support strategic and operational decision-making across the business.

The Role

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Financial Accountant to join an established organisation based in Little Island, Cork.

Reporting to the Group Finance Manager, you will take responsibility for financial reporting, management accounts, budgeting, cash management and maintaining a strong financial control environment.

This is a broad role offering excellent exposure to senior management, with a strong commercial element around pricing, margins, working capital and operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the month-end close process and prepare monthly management accounts.

Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain general ledger integrity.

Monitor cash flow and working capital.

Support budgeting, forecasting and financial planning.

Oversee and approve weekly payroll.

Maintain financial policies, procedures and internal controls.

Manage statutory returns including Irish VAT, VIES, Intrastat, UK VAT and UK Plastic Tax.

Liaise with auditors, tax advisors and financial institutions.

Review customer pricing and monitor product margins.

Highlight required pricing changes and opportunities to improve profitability.

Provide financial analysis and commercial insight to senior management.

Support strategic and operational decision-making across the business.

Ensure compliance with relevant statutory and legal requirements.

Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and finance projects.

Requirements

Qualified accountant – ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.

Minimum 3 years' post-qualified experience.

Strong management accounting and month-end reporting experience.

Manufacturing or similar operational industry experience is highly desirable.

Strong financial analysis skills.

Good understanding of IFRS and relevant accounting standards.

Strong Microsoft Office and accounting systems experience.

Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.

Commercial, analytical and hands-on approach.

Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a wider team.
