Hygeia is seeking a high-calibre Qualified Accountant to join the finance team in a manufacturing setting. The role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, costing, and implementing robust financial processes, with a Big 4 background preferred.

You will drive finance-led improvements, partner with operations and supply chain, and manage complex costing and inventory valuation to support strategic growth.

Qualifications

  • Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • 2–4 years post-qualification experience in manufacturing/production.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and optimize financial workflows and internal controls across the manufacturing plant.
  • Streamline financial reporting to reduce month-end closing times and improve data accuracy.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement corrective financial measures with production teams.
  • Develop costing methodologies (standard costing, variance analysis) and oversee inventory valuation.
  • Support budgeting, rolling forecasts, and CapEx appraisals with analytical models.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement and Commercial teams on finance-led projects.

Role Overview

We are seeking a high-calibre, Qualified Accountant to join our finance team. This critical role requires a professional with a strong background in the manufacturing industry who can drive financial accuracy, operational efficiency, and strategic growth. The ideal candidate will combine rigorous technical expertise with a proactive mindset. You will take ownership element of budgeting, forecasting, and complex costing methods, while actively implementing robust financial processes. A Big 4 background is preferred for this role.

Key Responsibilities
Help introduce Process Implementation Continuous Improvement
  • Design, implement, and optimize robust financial workflows and internal controls across the manufacturing plant.
  • Streamline financial reporting mechanisms to reduce month-end closing times and improve data accuracy.
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and collaborate with production teams to implement corrective financial measures.
Costing Inventory Management
  • Manage and develop various costing methodologies, including standard costing and variance analysis.
  • Analyse material, labour, and overhead variances monthly, providing actionable insights to plant management.
  • Oversee inventory valuation, obsolescence provisions, and the annual physical stocktake process.
Budgeting, Forecasting Financial Analysis
  • Input into the annual budgeting process and regular rolling forecasts for the manufacturing operations.
  • Help develop financial models to support capital expenditure (CapEx) appraisals and business case evaluations.
  • Provide deep-dive financial analysis on product profitability, margin fluctuations, and cost-saving initiatives.
Teamwork Problem Solving
  • Partner cross-functionally with Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement and Commercial teams
  • Act as a core team member in finance-led projects, including system upgrades (ERP) and process automation.
  • Investigate financial discrepancies and proactively propose structured, data-driven solutions.
Candidate Profile Qualifications
  • Professional Qualification: Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent).
  • Industry Experience: Minimum 2-4 years of post-qualification experience specifically within a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Process Expertise: Proven track record of implementing, documenting, and upgrading financial processes and controls.
  • Technical Costing Skills: Strong, practical understanding of standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory accounting.
  • FPA Capabilities: Direct, hands-on experience in building and managing budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional problem-solving skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Background: Big 4 trained.
  • Systems: Advanced Excel skills and experience working with manufacturing ERP systems (e.g., SAP)
