Job summary

LearnUpon in Dublin is seeking a Financial Accountant to join our Financial Operations team. You will drive month-end close, reconciliations and prepare management accounts, acting as a key partner to ensure financial integrity as the business scales.

You will also manage VAT/Corp tax filings, liaise with FP&A, and contribute to process automation and internal controls. A strong eye for detail and proactive mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with multiple entity consolidation and reporting.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (Sheets) and accounting software.
• Ability to manage complex projects with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Drive month-end close (journals, accruals) and reconciliations.
• Prepare subsidiary management accounts and GL analyses.
• Support internal controls and spend policy compliance.
• Handle multi-jurisdictional tax filings (VAT, Corp tax) and Revenue Returns.
• Coordinate with FP&A and budget owners; assist audits.

About the Opportunity

As a Financial Accountant, you are a critical pillar of our Financial Operations team. This role offers unique breadth and exposure to the full accounting cycle, serving as a primary driver of our financial integrity. By streamlining processes and providing key analytical insights, you enable Finance to act as dynamic business support and a trusted stakeholder, ensuring we provide the robust financial foundation necessary as the business continues to scale.

In addition, you’ll be responsible for:

• Driving month-end close (journals/accruals), key account reconciliations, and subsidiary management accounts.
• Creating and maintaining detailed general ledger analysis (software, marketing, hosting costs).
• Supporting internal controls implementation and partnering with the business on spend policies and compliance.
• Managing multi-jurisdictional tax filings (Sales tax, Corp tax) and Revenue Returns (VAT, VIES, RTD).
• Being the finance prime for statutory audits and financial statement preparation.
• Liaising with FP&A and budget managers; managing procurement and expense processes.
• Partnering with external parties and professional advisors on local compliance and financial management.
• Adopting, designing, and evaluating processes and systems to support automation, timeline compression, and enhancement of the control environment.

Skills & Experience

Must-Haves

• 2-4 years of relevant industry experience.
• Experience with multiple entity consolidation and reporting.
• Proficiency in Google Workspace (especially Google Sheets) and working knowledge of accounting software.
• Drives complex projects independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating high attention to detail, strong reliability, and proven trustworthiness.
• Excellent communication skills and a proactive, results-oriented mindset.
• Experience using AI tools to streamline tasks and improve efficiencies

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience working with NetSuite/Oracle and/or Xero.
