Finance Risk & Controls Strategist

Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior risk advisor to partner with Finance leaders, identify risks before they impact objectives, and present updates to committees. You will design robust control environments and ensure adherence to the Enterprise Risk Management Policy across the Business Line.

You will lead root cause analyses for incidents, collaborate with second and third lines of defence, and drive continuous risk improvement initiatives within finance operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience.
• Six to ten years of applicable experience.
• Sound understanding of investment management practices, financial instruments, and applicable regulatory requirements.
• Understanding of the business line's operations, products/services, systems, and associated risks/controls.
• Knowledge of Risk/Compliance/Audit competencies.
• Strong process facilitation, project management, and analytical skills.
• This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a trusted risk advisor to aligned Finance leaders.
• Identify and address risks before they impact objectives.
• Present Finance updates at appropriate committee meetings.
• Serve as a functional liaison between the Business Line and second and third lines of defence.
• Evaluate and consult on risks associated with strategic priorities or major programs and projects.
• Design, enhance, and simplify effective control environments for Finance teams.
• Provide assurance of Business Line compliance with the Enterprise Risk Appetite Statement and Enterprise Risk Management Policy.
• Lead collaboration sessions to document Root Cause Analysis for Business Line Incidents and report Operational losses.
• Support Issues Management, BCIQ & PRISM submissions, Risk Assessment Unit reviews, and monitor them through their full lifecycle.
• Manage ad hoc projects from start to finish.
• Respond to unexpected events and findings.
