Job summary

CREGG is seeking a Finance Manager (Grade VII) to lead the hospital's finance function in Limerick on a 12-month maternity cover contract, working with the Head of Finance to ensure accurate reporting and strong financial governance.

The role involves managing Accounts Payable, Patient Accounts, Payroll, and Pensions; delivering monthly management accounts; supporting the IFMS rollout; and partnering with clinical and procurement leads to drive value for money and compliance.

Qualifications

• Professional accounting qualification and be a member of a recognised body (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or equivalent).
• At least 3+ years PQE.
• Experience in HSE or Voluntary hospital is preferred.
• Proven managerial experience within a finance team, preferably in the healthcare sector.
• Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead individuals and influence.
• Knowledge of GAAP and Financial Regulations.
• Experience with large annual budgets and advanced Excel skills.

Finance Manager (Grade VII) – 12-month Contract

Our client is looking to hire a Finance Manager (Grade VII) to work in an exciting Hospital setting in Limerick city on a 12-month maternity cover contract. Attractive HSE salary and benefits on offer for the successful candidate.

Location of Post: Limerick City
Tenure: Interim 12-month maternity cover contract
Reporting to: Head of Finance

Purpose of the Role: Reporting to the Head of the Finance Department, the Finance Manager will assist with leading and managing the Finance function within the hospital through financial leadership, strengthening internal controls, driving value for money, delivering accurate reporting, and expanding financial management capacity within the hospital. You will manage direct reports including:

• Accounts Payable Officers
• Patient Accounts Officers
• Payroll and Pensions Officers

The role will involve working closely and engaging with the wider Finance team members and acting as a business partner to the hospital department/service leads and procurement service. You will also be responsible for assisting with the implementation of the new Integrated Financial Management System (IFMS), the new single national integrated financial management and procurement system for the Irish Health Service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Responsibility for the team management of Accounts Payable/Patient Accounts and Finance Officers.
• Responsibility for the preparation and presentation of accurate and timely monthly management accounts reportable to the HSE.
• Analyse data and provide actionable insights to the Head of Finance.
• Ensure balance sheet and Income & Expenditure accounts are fully reconciled on a monthly basis.
• Develop the reporting suite including analysis of KPIs to help inform key decision makers.
• Be a leader in the development and implementation of department wide budgets and actively monitor and review financial performance against budget in conjunction with Department/Service leads.
• Partner with the Department/Service leads to clearly convey the monthly financial performance and what it means for the Department/Service.
• Monitor and advise on the cash-flow position of the hospital on a monthly basis.
• Contribute to the development of financial policies and procedures.
• Ensure all financial records are readily available.
• Assist in the design and delivery of annual Cost Improvement Programmes.
• Provide regular reports of the hospital’s financial progress (including year-end forecasts) that are timely, relevant, accurate and meaningful.
• Assist the internal & external audit functions and address any weaknesses as may be identified.
• Other ad hoc duties as required.

Skills/Experience Required:

• Professional Accountancy qualification and be a member of a recognised body of accountants (ACCA, ACA, CIMA, or equivalent).
• The successful candidate will have at least 3+ years PQE.
• You will ideally have previous HSE or Voluntary hospital experience.
• Proven managerial experience within a finance team, preferably in the healthcare sector.
• Excellent people management skills with the ability to lead individuals and influence.
• Detailed knowledge of General Accepted Accounting principles and Financial Regulations.
• Detailed knowledge of managing a significant annual budget.
• Knowledge of Accounting software systems and Microsoft Office including advanced competency in Excel.
• The ability to present financial information clearly, concisely and confidently.
