Job summary

Sterling Engineering Ltd - Ireland & Europe is seeking a Finance Assistant / Finance Graduate for a 12-month fixed-term contract. Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline.
• Internship, placement year, or up to 2 years' experience in a finance role.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office; good with deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Support the month-end close process, including journal preparation and reconciliations.
• Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and ensure reporting deadlines are met.
• Work closely with the Shared Service Centre (GBS) to support accounting activities.
• Help prepare financial reports, forecasts, and management information.
• Assist with statutory reporting, Revenue returns, and other compliance activities.
• Provide support during internal and external audits.
• Contribute to maintaining strong internal controls and finance procedures.
• Support KPI reporting and plant performance analysis.
• Assist with process improvement initiatives across the finance department.
• Carry out all duties in line with company health and safety policies.

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent finance or business graduate, or someone with internship or junior finance experience, to gain hands-on experience across financial accounting, reporting, analysis, and compliance while supporting the wider finance function.

Working closely with the Plant Financial Controller and the finance team, you will develop practical experience in month-end processes, reconciliations, reporting, and continuous improvement within a busy manufacturing environment.
