Job summary

Our Client in Ireland seeks a Communication Systems Engineer to support critical communication infrastructure nationwide. This field-based role offers permanent, full-time employment with a salary of €50,000 DOE plus an on-call allowance.

The ideal candidate will have a third-level qualification in Engineering/IT/Telecommunications and at least 3 years in technical or field engineering roles, with strong Windows and Linux proficiency and a driving licence.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in technical support, field engineering, network engineering, or telecommunications.
• Solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Windows Server environments.
• Experience with Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, Red Hat, or CentOS).
• Exposure to Bash or Shell scripting.
• Experience supporting servers, networking infrastructure, and communication systems.
• Knowledge of SQL Server and database administration.
• Experience with PBX, VoIP and telecommunications systems.
• Strong fault-finding and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
• Full clean Irish driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for communication systems and associated infrastructure.
• Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, server, and networking issues.
• Support the installation, maintenance, and commissioning of communication systems.
• Assist with server builds, software deployments, and system upgrades.
• Provide remote and on-site technical support to customers.
• Support PBX, VoIP, and telecommunications systems.
• Carry out network troubleshooting across LAN, WAN, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, switches, and routers.
• Participate in an out-of-hours support rota.
• Maintain accurate technical documentation and service records.
• Ensure high standards of customer service, quality, and safety are maintained.
