Equipment Manager / Turf Engineer

Overview
Galway Bay Golf, Renville Oranmore, are seeking an experienced and qualified Equipment Manager/Turf Engineer to join their team on the spectacular 18‑hole Championship Golf Course. The role involves repairing and maintaining golf course machinery and equipment, performing preventative maintenance, major and minor repairs, ensuring safety, and managing administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain proper operating functions of golf course machinery and equipment, including tractors, ride‑on mowers, hand mowers, golf buggies, and construction equipment.
- Perform preventative and routine maintenance, including machining operations, trimming, and sharpening mowing equipment.
- Diagnose and repair fault issues on petrol/diesel engine equipment, mobile hydraulic systems, and mobile air compressors.
- Identify parts needed for repairs, liaise with suppliers for ordering and maintain a stock list.
- Schedule and carry out preventive and routine maintenance for golf course and resort equipment.
- Maintain workshop area in a neat, orderly fashion complying with H&S laws.
- Keep service records, budget and cost‑control documentation for all equipment and major repairs.
- Train staff on safety of equipment and apply safety systems.
- Ensure adherence to the Company Health & Safety policy.
- Prepare and submit administrative paperwork and timesheets.

Requirements / Experience / Skills
- Qualified Construction Plant Fitter or similar.
- Minimum of 1 year’s experience as a plant fitter or turf mechanic.
- Interpretation and application of data.
- Team player.
- Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
- Good communication skills.
- Full, clean driving licence (essential).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proven ability to work independently using own initiative or within a team.
