Job summary

ATPI is seeking an enthusiastic Greenkeeper for our Ballina Golf Club. This entry-level role offers hands-on training in the daily maintenance of the golf course. Candidates should enjoy outdoor work and have a positive attitude while being part of a dedicated team.

No prior experience is required, but a willingness to learn and a strong work ethic are essential. The position includes the opportunity to access club facilities and pursue additional qualifications.

Qualifications

• Enjoyment of outdoor work and willingness to work a flexible schedule.
• Some previous experience in greenkeeping, landscaping, or horticulture is a plus.
• PA1, 2 or 6 spray certs are advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist with daily maintenance of the golf course.
• Carry out mowing of greens, tees, and fairways.
• Operate and maintain greenkeeping machinery and equipment.

Job description

Ballina Golf Club is a proud and welcoming community-based club. We are committed to maintaining and improving our course and facilities to deliver an outstanding golfing experience for our members and visitors. As part of our continued development, we are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Greenkeeper to join our team.

Role Overview

This is an entry-level role focused on the day-to-day care and presentation of the golf course. It is perfect for someone at the start of their greenkeeping career who enjoys working outdoors, has a strong work ethic, and is eager to learn and develop within a supportive team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily maintenance of the golf course to a high standard.
• Carry out mowing of greens, tees, fairways and roughs.
• Maintain bunkers, pathways and practice areas.
• Support aeration, scarification, topdressing and other turf-care practices.
• Operate and maintain greenkeeping machinery and equipment (full training provided).
• Set up the course each day, including hole changing, tee marker placement and hazard maintenance.
• Assist with irrigation operation and water management.
• Maintain a clean and safe working environment in line with health and safety guidelines.
• Work as part of a small, close-knit team under the guidance of the Head Greenkeeper.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Eagerness to learn and develop greenkeeping skills.
• Some previous experience in greenkeeping, landscaping, horticulture or a similar outdoor role (not essential).
• Basic awareness of turf care or machinery operation.
• Relevant training (e.g., FETAC/QQI, Teagasc or equivalent) is an advantage but not required.
• PA1, 2 or 6 spray certs an advantage.
