Job summary

Complete Laboratory Solutions (CLS) is seeking a dedicated laboratory manager to lead the environmental laboratory operations, covering inorganic and organic analysis. You will oversee scheduling, sample distribution, timely results, and staff development to ensure excellence in service.

This role requires strong leadership, process improvement, and collaboration with Quality Control and Finance to optimise resources and maintain high standards in a fast-growing lab environment.

Qualifications

• Formally manage the environmental laboratory both inorganic and organic activities.
• Scheduling and distribution of samples and work loads.
• Managing turnaround time of results and deadlines including the prompt entry of results and timely checking off process.
• Analyst and team development including coaching and annual appraisals.
• Ensuring integrity of results reported by the lab and compliance with ISO17025 requirements.
• Liaising closely with the Quality Control Department on any QC related issues.

Responsibilities

• Oversee KPI measurements.
• Maximise resources in your area and implement changes to enhance operation and efficiency.
• Encourage good communication among all sections of the Chemistry Dept. and support inter-departmental communication.
• Develop the People Agenda and implement Performance Management processes.
• Motivate staff to achieve targets and optimise resources at all times.
• Flag downtime or issues and communicate with management to notify clients where applicable.

The Role

• Formally manage the environmental laboratory both inorganic and organic activities.

• Scheduling and distribution of samples and work loads.

• Managing turnaround time of results and deadlines including the prompt entry of results and timely checking off process.

• Analyst and team development including coaching and annual appraisals.

• Manage the holiday tracker.

• Ensuring integrity of results reported by the lab and compliance with ISO17025 requirements

• Liaising closely with the Quality Control Department on any QC related issues.

• Support KPI measurements.

• Maximising all resources in your area and where appropriate implement changes that will enhance the operation and efficiency of the operation.

• Encourage good communication among all sections of the Chemistry Dept. as well as supporting inter-departmental communication.

• Responsible for the development of the People Agenda.

• Full implementation of Performance Management processes.

• Motivate staff to achieve targets and optimise the use of resources at all times.

• Motivate team to promote team spirit, increased efficiency and full engagement.

• Flagging any down times or issues and communicating with your manager and the environmental administration office, to facilitate client notification where applicable.

• Oversee purchasing and collaborate with Finance department on Vendor assessment.

• All other related duties as requested by manager.

• Compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, INAB requirements and CLS internal quality and technical procedures.
