Job summary

CLS - Complete Laboratory Solutions seeks an experienced Environment Laboratory Manager to lead inorganic and organic activities in our Galway facility. You will schedule samples, manage workloads, and ensure timely turnaround of results while maintaining ISO17025 and INAB compliance.

Responsibilities include coaching staff, developing the People Agenda, implementing performance management, and liaising with Quality Control and Finance on vendor assessment.

We offer bespoke managed service solutions that give clients the option of having our expert team on-site at their own facility or outsourcing those services to us here at CLS.

The Role

• Formally manage the environmental laboratory both inorganic and organic activities.
• Scheduling and distribution of samples and work loads.
• Managing turnaround time of results and deadlines including the prompt entry of results and timely checking off process.
• Analyst and team development including coaching and annual appraisals.
• Manage the holiday tracker.
• Ensuring integrity of results reported by the lab and compliance with ISO17025 requirements
• Liaising closely with the Quality Control Department on any QC related issues.
• Support KPI measurements.
• Maximising all resources in your area and where appropriate implement changes that will enhance the operation and efficiency of the operation.
• Encourage good communication among all sections of the Chemistry Dept. as well as supporting inter-departmental communication.
• Responsible for the development of the People Agenda.
• Full implementation of Performance Management processes.
• Motivate staff to achieve targets and optimise the use of resources at all times.
• Motivate team to promote team spirit, increased efficiency and full engagement.
• Flagging any down times or issues and communicating with your manager and the environmental administration office, to facilitate client notification where applicable.
• Oversee purchasing and collaborate with Finance department on Vendor assessment.
• All other related duties as requested by manager.
• Compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001, INAB requirements and CLS internal quality and technical procedures.
