Job summary

Freudenberg Group in Ireland looks for a Maintenance Technician to diagnose manufacturing issues and implement permanent fixes on the production line. You will handle PMs, drive continuous improvements, and support energy performance and safety compliance while working with the production team on daily priorities.

The role requires hands-on troubleshooting, trade experience, and attention to detail. You will collaborate with engineering and operations to optimise equipment performance.

Qualifications

• Ideally prior trade experience (Toolmaker, Fitter, Electrician, Mechanic) or NFQ Level 6 in a technical discipline.
• Mechanical, Electrical or Lean Six Sigma certification – highly desirable.
• Process experience in Grinding, Moulding, EDM and/or Laser processes – Distinct Advantage.
• Excellent attention to detail and communication skills.
• Hands-on approach to diagnosing and fixing manufacturing issues.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and solve manufacturing issues using structured problem solving.
• Take technical responsibility for OEE metrics, downtime communication and recovery planning.
• Support equipment changeovers while implementing SMED improvements.
• Complete and continually improve preventive maintenance to optimise equipment performance.
• Manage and maintain spare parts inventory to minimise downtime.
• Design jigs and fixtures to meet manufacturing requirements and improve processes.
• Follow safe systems of work and report hazards to management.
• Collaborate with production to prioritise daily/weekly actions.
• Be aware of energy impact of maintenance on energy-intensive equipment.
• Be aware of safety features and risks when removing or altering equipment.
• Adhere to OH&S, Environmental and Energy Management requirements.
• Train Production Operators in correct use of process equipment and specifications.

Responsibilities:

• Solution focused, diagnosing and implementing permanent solutions to manufacturing issues in a structured problem-solving approach.

• Technical responsibility for OEE Metrics Yield & Downtime, communication/escalation of critical downtime events and appropriate recovery resolution planning.

• Support equipment/product changeovers while implementing continuous improvements to reduce changeover times (SMED).

• Responsible for completing the equipment preventative maintenance (PM) ensuring continuously improved of PM’s to optimise equipment performance.

• Manage and maintain spare parts inventory to minimised equipment downtime.

• Design jigs & fixtures to meet manufacturing requirements and continuously improving existing processes.

• Follow safe systems of work, taking care of personal health and safety, and that of other. Eliminating or reducing risks where practicable by complying with site safety rules and instructions and reporting hazards to management for prompt action.

• Collaborate with production team to ensure correct prioritisation of daily/weekly action.

• Be aware of the impact maintenance may have on the energy performance of equipment, in particular equipment which is a significant energy user.

• Be aware of the impact maintenance may have on equipment safety features and the potential safety risks or hazards due to the removal or alteration of such features.

• Adhere to Plant Safety requirements and Health & Safety requirements relating to your work, assuming responsibility for those aspects of the OH&S System over which you have control to ensure the health and safety of yourself and others.

• Be aware of the potential environmental impacts associated with your work and the implications of non-conformance.

• Contribute to enhanced energy performance by conservation of energy where possible (Lighting, Equipment, Air Conditioning etc).

• Contribute to the continual improvement activities of the OH&S, Environmental and Energy Management systems through participation, providing feedback/ suggestions for improvement and by reporting accidents, dangerous occurrence, near miss/ illness, good catch and environmental incidents in a timely manner.

• Training relevant Production Operators in correct use of process equipment and in product specifications.
