My client operates a state-of-the-art plant in Clara that specializes in sterile barrier packaging and performance packaging solutions for the medical device, diagnostic, and pharmaceutical drug delivery industries.
They are looking to hire a Maintenance Supervisor for their growing team. The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day leadership, coordination and supervision of the Engineering team, ensuring that production equipment and manufacturing assets are maintained to the highest standards of safety, quality, reliability and compliance.
Responsibilities
- Ensure engineering activities comply with GMP, ISO 13485, FDA, Health & Safety legislation, and company quality standards.
- Manage engineering risk assessments, permits to work, contractor controls, and calibration schedules.
- Lead investigations into equipment failures, incidents, and near misses, implementing effective Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and corrective actions.
- Plan, prioritise, and supervise preventative and reactive maintenance to maximise equipment reliability, OEE, and minimise production downtime.
- Monitor maintenance KPIs, equipment performance, and downtime trends, driving continuous improvement and ensuring accurate CMMS records.
- Support the installation, commissioning, qualification, validation, and ongoing maintenance of production equipment and facilities.
- Support automation, PLC-controlled equipment, robotics, and manufacturing technologies to optimise production performance.
- Lead, coach, and develop the Engineering team through workload planning, one-to-ones, performance management, recruitment, training, succession planning, and technical skills development.
- Support Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, CAPA, deviations, change controls, and engineering projects from concept through implementation.
- Manage engineering spare parts inventory to ensure critical component availability while controlling costs.
- Provide engineering expertise during customer and regulatory audits, producing performance reports and presenting KPIs to management.
Requirements
- Degree or Higher Certificate in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Mechatronic or Industrial Engine
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies (desirable), Six Sigma Green Belt (desirable), Health & Safety / IOSH (desirable), Root Cause Analysis, (5 Why, Fishbone, RCA) CMMS maintenance systems, GMP / ISO 13485 / FDA awareness, Project Management experience (desirable).
- Significant engineering experience within a regulated manufacturing environment, with demonstratable experience of regulatory compliance and quality standards.
- Previous supervisory or team leadership experience (essential)
- Experience establishing and managing preventative and corrective maintenance programmes
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and automation systems
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
