Contentful is seeking an Engineering Manager - Content API to lead a remote-first web development team across Europe, driving Contentful’s strategy for content reuse and governance.

You will collaborate with Product, Design, Infrastructure and Security to deliver scalable CMS features and high‑performance solutions powering websites and user experiences.

The role emphasizes ownership, mentoring, and continuous learning in a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience leading development teams.
• Proficient in web technologies (TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Node.js) and familiar with headless CMS platforms (Contentful).
• Excel at optimizing performance and scalability with complex content structures and large datasets.
• Balance innovation with immediate impact, overseeing technical delivery while growing team capabilities.
• Collaborate effectively across Product, Design, Data, Engineering to align work with business goals.
• Strong mentoring track record, fostering continuous learning and quality in a distributed team.
• People-management experience with performance reviews, check-ins, and calibrations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a globally distributed web development team with a culture of high performance and collaboration.
• Define the team roadmap focusing on entity reuse and enterprise governance, and maintain CMS services.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, Research, Infrastructure, and Security to translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Oversee integration and scaling of the CMS features (Content Models, Collections, Locales) on contentful.com.
• Guide solutioning, coding, testing, and deployment while upholding coding and architectural best practices.
• Mentor junior and senior developers to foster technical excellence and growth.
• Manage day-to-day operations ensuring capacity and global coverage for web deliverables.
• Partner with Product Managers to prioritize and execute the roadmap with clear stakeholder communication.
