Job summary

Amazon Ireland is seeking a Software Development Manager to own a core part of the Aurora Serverless Control Plane. You will provide technical direction, coach engineers, and lead delivery of customer-facing and operational features.

You will collaborate with senior engineers and product teams to shape roadmap, align deliveries, and scale for growth within AWS. This hands-on leadership role emphasizes curiosity and craftsmanship.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, certification and livesite operations.
• Experience in engineering team management and leadership of multi‑tier web services.
• Experience partnering with product and program management teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical direction and mentorship to the team; shape team roadmap and collaborate with support and other engineering teams.
• Lead on-call responsibilities and ensure fault-tolerant systems with calibrated alarms.
• Grow and foster talent from junior to senior developers; drive prioritization and backlog management.
• Collaborate with PM and engineering teams on roadmap strategy and prioritization; report to leadership on deliverables.
• Review designs and influence the team’s design documents; drive operational ownership of the team.
