Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Software Development Manager to own a core part of the Aurora Serverless v2 control plane in Ireland. You will lead a diverse team, drive architectural direction, and deliver enterprise-grade features for automated database lifecycle management and scale.

You will collaborate across AWS engineering, product management, and customer teams, mentoring engineers, shaping roadmaps, and ensuring reliable operation of a petabyte-scale cloud database service.

Qualifications

• Experience in engineering team management.
• Experience in leading the definition and development of multi tier web services.
• Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
• Experience communicating with users and senior leadership to gather requirements.
• Experience recruiting, mentoring and managing software engineers.

Responsibilities

• Manage people, product and project initiatives and set team roadmaps.
• Handle manager-on-call responsibilities, ensuring fault tolerance and incident response.
• Grow and mentor junior to senior developers.
• Establish scalable team processes and backlog prioritization.
• Collaborate with PM and engineering teams on roadmap strategy.
• Share updates with leadership on deliverables.
• Review designs and shape technical documents.
• Drive operational ownership of the team.
