Responsibilities

• Delivery:Directcycleplanning,prioritisation,andworkloadallocationforthewebteam,ensuringalignmentwithorganisationalgoals.Maintainmomentumonin-progresstasks,confirmcompletionstandardsaremet,andself-assigntaskswhereappropriate.
• TeamLeadership:Provideleadershipandtechnicaldirectiontothewebteam,proactivelyremovingblockersandsupportingprofessionalgrowth.Coachteammembersontechnicalmatters,promoteknowledgesharing,andupholdacultureofcollaboration,accountability,andcontinuousimprovement.Participateintheon-callrotaduringhigh-demandorhigh-trafficperiods.
• Maintenance&Improvement:Balancemaintenanceactivitieswithproductandeditorialpriorities.Monitorlogsandsystemalerts,addressingissuespromptly.Systematicallymanagetechnicaldebt,ensuredocumentationstandardsareupheld,andproposeimprovementstobothapplicationsandworkflows.
• Collaboration:Conductregularreviewsofpullrequeststoensurecodequalityandadherencetobestpractices.Supportknowledgetransferthroughpairingandensemblesessions.Actasaliaisonbetweenengineering,product,design,andeditorialteamstoensureclarityofrequirementsandeffectivedelivery.
• TechnicalOversight&Standards:Enforcerobustcoding,testing,anddeploymentpractices.Ensurestakeholderrequirementsaremet,designimplementationsmatchspecifications,andthatpost-releasemonitoringisinplacetodetectregressions.

Requirements

• Provenexperienceinawebmanagementorseniortechnicalleadershiprole.
• FluentinPHP,JavaScript,andtheecosystemoftechnologiesrequiredtobuildandmaintainmodern,scalablewebapplications.
• Deepunderstandingofcodingstandards,testingmethodologies,deploymentpipelines,andmonitoringpractices.
• Experienceworkingwithlegacycode,improvingcurrentfeaturesandintroducingnewfunctionalitywithoutdiscardingtheexistingbehaviourthatissometimesobscured.
• Well-versedinsoftwareengineeringpracticessuchastest-drivendesign,refactoring,anddomain-drivendesign.
• Demonstratedabilitytomanagetechnicalteams,deliverycycles,andcross-functionalcollaboration.
• Experiencementoringdevelopersandcultivatingahigh-performanceengineeringculture.
• Strongproblem-solvingskillsandaproactiveapproachtomanagingtechnicaldebtandsystemhealth.
• Willingnesstoparticipateinon-callsupportforcriticalevents.
