Job summary

AllPro Recruitment is seeking an experienced Engineering Advisor - Electrical, aligned to the Technical Services Officer grade, for a major healthcare construction programme based in Dublin. This role provides client-side technical oversight through construction, commissioning, handover and operational readiness.

You will lead electrical engineering oversight, review submissions, ensure compliance with Irish and European standards, and support testing and commissioning of critical power systems.

Qualifications

• QQI Level 8+ in Electrical/Building Services Engineering or related field.
• Chartered Engineer status or equivalent is required.
• Significant postgraduate experience in electrical engineering and building services delivery.

Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering oversight throughout construction and delivery.
• Review contractor technical submissions, drawings, method statements and commissioning plans.
• Monitor installations against the approved design, relevant standards and project requirements.
• Work with designers, contractors and specialist subcontractors to resolve technical queries and construction issues.
• Participate in site inspections, technical audits and quality reviews.
• Assess proposed changes, equipment substitutions and their impact on performance, cost and programme.
• Support testing, commissioning and integrated systems testing, including critical and emergency power systems.
• Monitor defects, non-conformances and outstanding works through to resolution.
• Liaise with estates and operational teams to support maintenance planning and operational readiness.
• Review operation and maintenance documentation, asset information, training requirements and handover records.

Job description

AllPro Recruitment is seeking an experienced Engineering Advisor - Electrical, aligned to Technical Services Officer (TSO) grade, for a major healthcare construction programme based in Dublin.

This is an opportunity for a senior electrical or building services engineer to provide client-side technical oversight through construction, commissioning, handover and operational readiness.

The Role

Working within the client project team, the successful candidate will provide electrical engineering expertise and technical assurance, ensuring that electrical installations meet the project's quality, safety, performance and operational requirements.

The role focuses on delivering the approved design and ensuring that systems are reliable, maintainable and ready for operational use.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide electrical engineering oversight throughout construction and delivery.

• QQI Level 8 or higher qualification, or equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer status or an equivalent professional qualification.
• Significant post-graduate experience in electrical engineering and building services delivery.
• Experience in a client-side, consultancy, contractor or technical assurance role through construction and commissioning.
• Experience with complex electrical systems, technical reviews, inspections, commissioning and handover.
• Strong knowledge of relevant Irish and European electrical building services standards.
• Working knowledge of relevant healthcare engineering guidance, including NHS Health Technical Memoranda and Health Building Notes.
• Excellent communication, technical reporting and stakeholder management skills.
• Access to appropriate transport to fulfil the requirements of the role.

Experience on major healthcare developments would be advantageous. Candidates with experience in pharmaceutical, semiconductor, laboratory, data centre or other technically complex environments are also encouraged to apply.

Relevant technical experience may include electrical distribution, standby generation, UPS systems, critical power infrastructure, electrical resilience and integrated systems testing.
