Job summary

CMI Recruitment is seeking a senior electrical engineering lead to provide client-side assurance on a large hospital development. You will challenge design and construction teams on power, resilience, safety and commissioning to ensure systems are robust and fit for long-term operation.

Qualifications

• Level 8 degree in Electrical/Building Services Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer or equivalent.
• Significant post-graduate experience in electrical building-services delivery on large, complex projects.
• Proven client-side, consultancy, contractor or technical assurance experience through construction, commissioning and handover.
• Strong knowledge of Irish and European standards for electrical building services; HTMs/HBNs knowledge.
• Excellent communication, reporting and stakeholder-management skills.

Responsibilities

• Act as the senior electrical engineering representative within the client project team.
• Review contractor submissions, drawings, method statements, ITPs and commissioning plans; manage RFIs, design clarifications and change.
• Carry out site inspections, audits and quality reviews; manage non-conformances, defects and close-out.
• Assess substitutions and value-engineering proposals for performance, resilience and maintainability.
• Review and challenge commissioning and integrated systems testing, including full testing of emergency and essential power.
• Support soft landings, O&M documentation, asset information, training and handover to the hospital estates team.
• Coordinate power, capacity, resilience and protection requirements for medical and specialist equipment during equipping.
• Work with the design team, main contractor, specialist subcontractors, ICT and clinical/operational stakeholders to resolve technical issues.

Job description

Provide electrical engineering leadership and technical assurance on the client side of a large, technically complex acute hospital development, through construction, commissioning, soft landings, operational readiness and equipping. This is an assurance role, not a design-production role – you will need the technical depth to challenge design and construction teams on critical power, resilience, safety and commissioning, and to make sure systems are robust, maintainable and fit for long-term hospital operation.

• Strong knowledge of Irish and European standards for electrical building services; working knowledge of HTMs and HBNs.

Hospital / healthcare projects, or other critical environments such as pharma, semiconductor, laboratories or data centres. Experience with HV/MV distribution, standby generation, UPS and battery systems, resilience and redundancy, medical equipment interfaces, BIM and digital handover.
