Job summary

Watt Footprint, an Irish company with global ambitions, is seeking an Energy Engineer to support clients from feasibility to final delivery of energy efficiency projects in Ireland. You will lead audits, coordinate with contractors and develop financial justifications while working directly with customers across service lines.

The role emphasizes client management, strong communication, and leadership to mentor the next generation of engineers in a dynamic startup environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Energy, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with 3–5 years hands‑on experience in building services, M&V, or energy efficiency.
• IPMVP/CEM certification with proven energy management and audits.
• Excellent attention to detail with strong client management skills.
• Proactive, self‑driven and autonomous with initiative.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; proficient in Office 365.
• Adaptable to a fast‑paced startup environment.
• Strong leadership and mentoring to develop future engineers.

Responsibilities

The smart and unique skill set that Watt Footprint brings to the market, is the ability to offer businesses both small and large, a complete energy management saving solution from initial feasibility assessment and energy audit to securing grants approvals, project upgrades, through to the completion of measured and verified savings.

We’re looking for an outgoing Energy Engineer with 3-5 years’ experience who enjoys being customer-facing and wants to do more than just energy studies, but really support clients from start to finish on their energy efficiency journey.

You’ll be working directly with customers, helping identify opportunities and deliver energy solutions, while also getting involved across our other service lines, from our energy management software to delivering projects.

Skills & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Energy, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering with minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical engineering for building services, Measurement & Verification (M&V), or energy efficiency.

• Ideally certified in IPMVP/CEM with a proven track record in Energy Management, and Efficiency Energy Audits.

• Exceptional attention to detail and adept client management skills.

• Proactive, self-driven, and capable of working autonomously with strong initiative.

• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, proficient in Office 365 tools.

• Ability to adapt quickly and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment.

• Strong leadership and managment skills, with a keen interest in developing the next generation on engineers.

What the job involves

• Complete energy audits and feasibility studies for our clients (SI426, ESG, ISO 50001, and 14001).

• Coordinate with contractors for site visits and accurate project quotations.

• Develop robust financial justifications for proposed energy efficiency projects and present project proposals to clients.

• Engage directly with clients in meetings and manage crucial stakeholder relationships.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary of 35-45k based on experince
