Job summary

Saoirse Domestic Violence Service is seeking a Relief Support Worker to provide short notice and planned cover for permanent staff. You will support clients through care planning with a compassionate, non-judgemental approach, promoting empowerment and mutual aid.

Role requires flexible hours including weekends, with benefits and a focus on staff wellbeing. You will work as part of the Refuge Team, ensuring safeguarding and GDPR compliance while supporting safe accommodation for those in crisis.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Degree to NFQ level 7 in a relevant area (social care, social studies, etc).
• At least 1 year’s experience in a social care setting.
• Experience using client databases and good IT/report writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Welcome women and children into emergency refuge accommodation and support their settling.
• Provide trauma-informed emotional and practical support to individuals experiencing domestic abuse.
• Operate the 24-hour helpline and respond to support requests professionally.
• Collaborate with Refuge team and keyworkers on care plans, referrals and advocacy.
• Maintain a safe, confidential environment following safeguarding and GDPR requirements.
• Keep accurate and timely client records and update the client database.
• Support day-to-day Refuge operations and assist with room prep and maintenance issues.
• Attend team meetings and training; undertake other duties as required.
