Job summary

Sterling Engineering Ltd - Ireland & Europe is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Shannon, Ireland. The role focuses on developing and maintaining embedded software for life safety and connected home products within a multidisciplinary R&D team, spanning embedded systems, wireless connectivity and IoT technologies.

You will work on microcontrollers, RTOS and embedded Linux platforms, with responsibilities across design, testing and integration, and collaboration with hardware, RF,

Qualifications

Four or more years of embedded software development experience.
Strong C/C++ programming skills; Python is desirable.
Experience with microcontrollers, embedded systems and real-time software.
Knowledge of communication protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
Experience with debugging tools and hardware-software integration.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test and maintain embedded software using C/C++.
Contribute to software architecture, drivers, communication protocols and system integration.
Develop and debug software for microcontrollers, RTOS and embedded Linux platforms.
Support wireless technologies including BLE, Matter, Thread and Wi-Fi.
Perform testing, troubleshooting and root-cause analysis.
Collaborate with Hardware, RF, Validation and Quality teams.
Contribute to code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD and technical documentation.
