Job summary

Stryker in Cork is seeking an R&D Co-Op Student to contribute to design and development of medical devices for orthopedic surgeons. You will support the R&D New Product Development teams to bring new products to market.

Responsibilities include software design and verification, prototyping, testing, and documentation under supervision. Ideal candidates are pursuing degrees in Biomedical, Software, or Electronic Engineering with knowledge of embedded systems and C/C++.

Qualifications

• Pursuing/holding Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Software or Electronic Engineering, or Robotics.
• Fundamental embedded software engineering practices and tools in regulated environments.
• Proficiency in Embedded C and C++ (required); Python desirable.
• Experience with testing/maintaining/debugging software using hardware tools.
• PCB design with Altium or Orcad is a plus.
• Familiarity with development boards (e.g., Raspberry Pi) a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in design, development, modification, and verification of software for medical devices under supervision.
• Prototype and bench test support.
• Support root cause analysis and evaluate solutions against requirements.
• Conduct research to support product design.
• Understand product use and clinical procedures.
• Learn design controls, regulatory requirements, and R&D procedures.
