Job summary

European Tech Recruit is assisting a multinational semiconductor company in Cork to hire an Embedded RTOS Software Engineer. You will join the Core Platform Kernel Software team developing RTOS software for subsystems on chips used in Mobile Handset, XR, Compute, Automotive, Cloud AI and IoT.

You will work on RTOS development (Zephyr preferred), C/C++ and assembly, with attention to multi-core architectures, testing with QEMU, scripting in Python, and secure software practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in RTOS development, Zephyr preferred.
• Strong embedded software development experience in C/C++.
• Familiarity with CI systems, unit tests, and source control workflows.

Responsibilities

• Independently develop small blocks and assist in larger ones to meet quality, power, and timing targets.
• Identify and resolve architecture and design issues across subsystems; participate in design reviews.
• Keep up with industry trends related to DSP, ML, and modem technologies.
• Collaborate with team members to generate new ideas.
• Communicate progress and document changes clearly to peers and leads.

European Tech Recruit are working closely with a multinational semiconductor technology company, based in Cork, who are looking for an experienced Embedded RTOS Software Engineer to join their team.

In this role you will join their Core Platform Kernel Software team which develops and deploys RTOS software to multiple subsystems on chips servicing Mobile Handset, XR, Compute, Automotive, Cloud AI and IoT market segments.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities as Embedded RTOS Software Engineer:

• Independently develop small well-defined blocks and assists in developing complex well-defined blocks, features, and/or tests under minor supervision that achieve desired quality, functionality, power, performance, and timing standards; guides lower-level engineers; proposes minor improvements.
• Independently identify problems across multiple systems or subsystems and resolve most architecture and design issues; collaborate and collect feedback during design reviews and with other teams to ensure the block meets the specifications, performance, and power requirements; investigate issues in order to prevent future issues.
• Seek essential knowledge of industry trends, competitors' products, and advances in various engineering fields related to DSP products and technology (e.g., machine learning, modem); show interest in a specific area of expertise.
• Collaborate with team members to generate new ideas.
• Communicate effectively with peers and leads using written, verbally, and online communication; effectively track and document issues, features, and design changes.

Requirements

You’ll be a great fit for this position if you are passionate about embedded real time operating system software development. If you have hands‑on experience in RTOS development (especially Zephyr RTOS) that’s even better. We also value skills, experience, and/or passion in the following areas:

• Embedded software development (C, C++, Assembly language – RISC‑V, ARM, Hexagon).
