Job summary

Dornan invites applications for its Electrical Engineering Internship Programme 2027, with placements across Ireland, the UK and Mainland Europe. You will work on live projects under experienced engineers, gaining exposure to low and medium voltage systems, busbar systems, general lighting, power distribution, diesel generator systems, and more.

The internship lasts 6–12 months and is usually completed in the third year of study.

Qualifications

• Pursuing Electrical Engineering degree (or equivalent).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with reports and front-end studies including capital cost estimates and project schedules.
• Prepare technical and contract documentation for issue and tender analyses.
• Update and manage delivery and progress schedules (MS Project).
• Clarify queries with the Design team via the RFI system.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments with construction team.
• Maintain a register of contract variations and test packs.
• Carry out quality control through inspections and snagging, and document control.

Job description

We are now inviting applications for our Electrical Engineering Internship Programme 2027.

Successful candidates will be placed on projects in Ireland, the UK and Mainland Europe.

The Dornan Electrical Engineering Internship Programme allows participants the opportunity to work on live projects with experienced engineers. You will get exposure to low voltage and medium voltage systems, busbar systems, general lighting systems, power distribution, diesel generator systems and many more.

Internships range from 6-12 months in duration and are usually completed in the third year of study.

Your day to day will include:

• Assisting with the preparation of reports and front-end studies including capital cost estimates, project schedules, material take off's and out to tender schedules.
• Assist with the preparation of technical and contract documentation for issue and analysing returned tenders.
• Prepare and update the delivery schedule to control deliveries
• Seek to clarify queries with the Design team through the request for information (RFI) system
• Prepare programs using MS project.
• Monitor progress against the program and issue progress reports.
• Produce look ahead programs to assist production.
• Prepare method statements and risk assessments (with construction team) for production activities
• Maintain a register of contract variations.
• Prepare test packs for recording the completion of systems.
• Carry out Quality Control through inspections and snagging
• Carry out document control, recording & transmitting information
• Assisting projects with financial control of contracts during construction stage.
• Liaise and co-ordinate with client's other members of the design team and contractors on technical issues.

What we are looking for:

• Working towards an Electrical Engineering Degree
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
