Job summary

Electricity Supply Board (ESB) seeks a Substation Commissioning professional to lead commissioning activities for HV substations on a national basis, with flexible/ hybrid working arrangements. The role requires installation testing, protection relay verification, and coordination of commissioning projects across Dublin, Cork, and other locations.

Qualifications

• Essential: Electrical safety rules and procedures knowledge.
• Essential: Experience with operation of substations.
• Familiarity with protection philosophies in Transmission/Distribution networks.
• Understanding of design/operation of Power Plants.
• Thorough knowledge of schematics, cubicle wiring and testing techniques.
• Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
• Strong interpersonal and planning skills.
• Willingness to travel to sites with valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assess site safety before commissioning activities and coordinate with site staff.
• Commissioning of primary, secondary, and associated equipment.
• Test instrument transformers, power transformers and HV switchgear.
• Test protection relays and verify protection schemes meet design standards.
• Coordinate, plan, and deliver commissioning projects.
