Job summary

ESB is seeking an experienced Senior CAD Technician with a civil or structural background to contribute to Ireland’s electrical transmission network expansion and to help develop innovative engineering solutions for large capital projects.

You will produce 2D and 3D drawings, collaborate across disciplines, mentor junior staff, and apply BIM, Revit and AutoCAD to deliver BIM‑compliant designs while working flexibly from Dublin 2 or Cork with two anchor days.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years post-qualification experience in a design consultancy.
• High level of competence in BIM, Revit and AutoCAD for GA, concrete, steel, masonry structures and drainage layouts.
• A Level 7 qualification or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering, or >3 years relevant experience.
• Extensive experience using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD for design, drafting and coordination.
• Full driving licence with access to a car.

• Prepare 2D & 3D drawings, maps and documentation to the highest quality in coordination with team members and stakeholders.
• Produce drawings for tender, construction issue and as-built drawings on project completion.
• Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver ESB’s Net Zero by 2040 strategy.
• Coordinate with internal and external designers and contractors from various engineering disciplines.
• Provide expertise in complex engineering drafting and design tools such as AutoCAD.
• Mentoring of less experienced staff.

Networks Engineering Substation Delivery department works closely with ESB Networks, Eirgrid, and external contracting partners to deliver engineering, technical, and innovative solutions that are safe, sustainable, and commercially optimised in alignment with ESB's Net Zero by 2040 Strategy.

We are seeking an experienced Senior CAD Technician with a civil or structural background to contribute to our vision for a brighter future.

This position requires providing advanced civil and structural technician services to support the expansion of Ireland’s electrical transmission network and to help develop innovative engineering solutions for large capital infrastructure projects. Key responsibilities include preparing general arrangement and construction detail CAD drawings (civil and/or structural)

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare2D & 3D drawings, maps and documentationto the highest quality in coordination with team members and stakeholders in other departments.
• Producedrawings for tender, construction issue and "as built" drawings on project completion
• Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver ESB’s Net Zero by 2040 strategy
• Coordinate with internal, external designers and contractors from various engineering disciplines
• Provideexpertise in complex engineering drafting and design tools such asAutoCad,
• Mentoring of less experienced staff.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential

• Minimum of3years post qualification experience in a design consultancy office.
• A high level of competence in BIM, Revit and AutoCAD for production of general arrangement Concrete, Steel, Masonry Structures and Drainage Layouts.
• A Level 7 qualification or higher in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognised third-level institution, or more than 3 years of relevant experience that clearly meets and exceeds the requirements of the position.
• Extensive experience using Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD for the design, drafting, and coordination of engineering projects
• Proficient in creating detailed 2D and 3D models, and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, BIM-compliant designs
• Ability to work independently and deliver project deadlines
• Organised and adaptable with a flexible approach to work.
• Holds a full driving licence with access to a car

Desirable

• Competence in Reinforced Concrete (RC) detailing and scheduling using Cads RC
• Experience in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D

Reporting to

A Senior Team leader within EMP Networks Engineering Substation Delivery

Location

This position will be based in ESB Engineering and Major Project's Office in Sidings Dublin 2 or Eastgate, Cork.

Salary

€41,000 to €48,000 per annum
