Job summary

Mergon International Ireland is seeking an experienced EHS and Facilities Manager to lead the site’s Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001) and Environmental/Energy systems (ISO 14001/50001). The role blends technical leadership with change leadership to embed safety into day-to-day operations, across EHS, facilities and energy performance.

You will coach line managers, drive compliance, risk reduction and continuous improvement, while ensuring regulatory alignment and stakeholder

Qualifications

• A recognised qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Facilities Management, Engineering or a related discipline.
• Experience managing ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and/or ISO 50001 management systems.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, environmental compliance, building regulations, contractor management and risk control.
• Experience leading culture-change to embed safety accountability at line management.
• Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, root cause analysis, audits and corrective actions.
• Experience leading teams in fast-paced environments.
• Ability to coach, influence and engage managers and staff at all levels.
• Strong data analysis, reporting, communication and presentation skills.
• MS Office proficiency and familiarity with EHS/facilities systems.

Responsibilities

• Own and continually improve the Health & Safety Management System (ISO 45001) and related systems.
• Act as site subject matter expert on health & safety legislation and risk management.
• Develop safety strategy, annual EHS plan and improvement roadmap.
• Establish safety roles and drive ownership of risk by line managers.
• Provide coaching and challenge to line managers on risk assessments and safe work practices.
• Integrate safety into daily routines and management reviews.
• Support cross-functional teams to assess changes before implementation.
• Lead leading indicators and governance through audits, training and incident learning.
• Prepare EHS performance reports for site and regulatory bodies.
• Oversee Environmental & Energy Management (ISO 14001/ISO 50001) and waste/energy initiatives.
• Own Facilities Management including welfare facilities, building fabric, grounds and utilities.
• Lead on team development, cross-functional collaboration and culture change.
