Job description

Our client is seeking an experienced and influential EHS Manager to lead Environment, Health & Safety performance for our integrated facilities management operation supporting a global biopharmaceutical client’s operation across Ireland.

This is a high-profile leadership position within one of the world's leading biopharmaceutical organisations, offering the opportunity to shape facilities management EHS strategy, influence organisational culture, engage directly with senior stakeholders and drive continuous improvement within a highly regulated pharmaceutical environment.

The EHS Manager is accountable for EHS leadership across our client's operations in Ireland.

The role requires close collaboration with senior Management and client stakeholders to ensure legal, contractual and client EHS requirements are consistently achieved while supporting business growth, operational resilience and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, coach and develop a team of EHS professionals supporting operations across the company.
  • Establish clear objectives, priorities and development plans for direct reports.
  • Foster a positive, proactive and accountable safety culture across all locations.
  • Provide EHS leadership and guidance to operational management teams.
  • Develop and implement the Ireland EHS strategy aligned with our client's key account and objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance EHS performance and organisational resilience.
  • Monitor emerging regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Lead EHS programmes, campaigns and cultural improvement initiatives.
  • Support strategic business growth initiatives and mobilisation activities.
  • Ensure compliance with Irish health and safety legislation, environmental requirements, policies and client expectations.
  • Maintain oversight of legal registers and ensure actions arising from legislative changes are effectively implemented.
  • Support regulatory inspections, client audits and internal key account and audits.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with site-specific and statutory requirements.
  • Ensure suitable and sufficient risk assessments are developed, reviewed and maintained for client activities.
  • Oversee high-risk work activities and critical risk controls.
  • Lead identification and mitigation of operational hazards and emerging risks.
  • Ensure lessons learned are captured and implemented across all Irish locations.
  • Lead investigations into significant incidents, near misses and environmental events.
  • Ensure root causes are identified and appropriate sustainable corrective actions implemented.
  • Monitor Investigation and CAPA effectiveness and closure performance across all three sites.Analyse incident trends and develop proactive prevention strategies.
Person Specification
  • Minimum 7 years' EHS experience with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role within a regulated industrial, pharmaceutical, life sciences or manufacturing environment.
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing EHS professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of Irish health and safety legislation.
  • Experience managing contractors within complex operational environments
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical, investigation and report-writing capabilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital EHS reporting systems.
  • Experience leading or participating in compliance, client and management system audits.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations.
