Job summary

SyBridge Technologies in Galway is seeking an experienced EDM Operator to join the tooling team. You will set up and operate EDM equipment to manufacture high-precision mould and tooling components in accordance with drawings, specifications and quality requirements.

Responsibilities include interpreting drawings, setting machine parameters, inspecting with precision instruments, and ensuring dimensional accuracy.

Qualifications

• Experience with plastic injection moulds, tooling, complex components, and tight tolerances in high-precision manufacturing.
• Experience with CNC machining or other precision machining processes.
• Apprenticeship or technical qualification in Toolmaking, Engineering, Machining or related discipline desirable.
• Experience with Sodick, Agie and Mitsubishi controls is advantageous.
• Experience with Wire EDM and Spark EDM is advantageous.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality with hands-on problem solving.
• Reliable and able to work to production schedules, independently or in a team.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn and develop technical skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate EDM equipment to manufacture precision mould and tooling components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and documentation.
• Set machine parameters, electrodes, work offsets and machining conditions.
• Manufacture components to specified dimensions, tolerances and surface finishes.
• Inspect components using precision measuring equipment (vernier, micrometers, gauges).
• Measure components in mm and µm as required.
• Monitor processes and adjust to maintain dimensional accuracy.
• Identify and troubleshoot machining and quality issues.
• Carry out routine machine cleaning, maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with Toolmakers, CNC Machinists, Engineers and manufacturing staff.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Follow health and safety and company policies; maintain clean, safe workplace.
• Support continuous improvement across Toolroom and manufacturing operations.

Position Summary

SyBridge Technologies is seeking an experienced EDM Operator to join our tooling team in Galway. The EDM Operator will be responsible for setting up and operating Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) equipment to manufacture high-precision mould and tooling components in accordance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Set up and operate EDM equipment to manufacture precision mould and tooling components.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Set machine parameters, electrodes, work offsets, and machining conditions as required.
• Manufacture components to specified dimensions, tolerances, and surface finish requirements.
• Inspect completed components using precision measuring equipment, including vernier callipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection equipment.
• Measure and verify components in millimetres (mm) and micrometres (µm) as required.
• Monitor machining processes and make adjustments to maintain dimensional accuracy and quality.
• Identify and troubleshoot machining and quality issues.
• Carry out routine machine cleaning, maintenance, and basic troubleshooting.
• Work closely with Toolmakers, CNC Machinists, Engineers, and other members of the manufacturing team.
• Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and company policies.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
• Support continuous improvement activities across the Toolroom and manufacturing operations.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience working with plastic injection moulds, tooling, complex components, and tight tolerances within a high-precision manufacturing environment.
• Experience with CNC machining or other precision machining processes.
• Recognised apprenticeship or technical qualification in Toolmaking, Engineering, Machining, or a related discipline is desirable.
• Experience with Sodick, Agie and Mitsubishi controls an advantage
• Experienced in both Wire and Spark EDM
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and quality, with a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
• Reliable and able to work to production schedules, both independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication skills and willingness to learn and develop technical skills.
