Job summary

A leading recruitment firm is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer SMT for a large electronic and medical device manufacturer in Galway. The ideal candidate will program and maintain SMT equipment, develop reflow oven profiles, and support manufacturing processes. A Level 8 qualification in Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline is required, along with knowledge of SMT components and manufacturing processes. This role offers opportunities for flexibility and involvement in continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Level 8 qualification in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with engineering Bills of Materials and technical drawings.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or weekends based on business needs.
  • Knowledge of SMT components and manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

  • Program and maintain all SMT equipment.
  • Develop and optimise reflow oven profiles.
  • Set up and support PTH manufacturing processes.
  • Liaise with customers for test equipment definitions.
  • Collaborate on New Product Introduction projects.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Prepare and maintain assembly documentation.
  • Train production operatives on assembly processes.
  • Support developing planned maintenance routines.
  • Provide technical support to production teams.
  • Implement process control methodologies.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety policies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Support ESG initiatives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

CREGG are hiring for a Manufacturing Engineer SMT for a large electronic and medical device manufacturer in Galway

Key Responsibilities
  • Program and maintain all SMT equipment, including the Printer, Pick-and-Place machines, and AOI systems.
  • Develop and optimise reflow oven profiles and manage oven programming.
  • Set up and support PTH (Plated Through-Hole) manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Liaise with customers to define and implement optimal test equipment and program configurations.
  • Collaborate with customers on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects to improve product manufacturability and ensure projects are delivered according to schedule.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives aligned with business objectives and cost reduction targets.
  • Prepare and maintain assembly documentation, process instructions, and related manufacturing documentation.
  • Train production operatives on assembly processes and procedures.
  • Support the Maintenance Team in developing planned maintenance routines for SMT equipment and perform critical engineering maintenance tasks when required.
  • Provide technical support to the production team to ensure efficient manufacturing operations.
  • Implement process control methodologies such as FMEA and Control Plans as part of the change management process.
  • Ensure full compliance with all health and safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment, ensuring all housekeeping standards are met.
  • Support the organisation’s Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives and objectives.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and undertake additional reasonable tasks as assigned by the supervisor or manager.
Qualifications
  • Level 8 qualification in Manufacturing Engineering or a related engineering discipline (or equivalent experience).
  • Experience working with engineering Bills of Materials (BOMs) and technical drawings.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or weekends when required to support business needs.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of SMT components and manufacturing processes.
