Job summary

Red Hat's OpenShift AI team in Ireland is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to help build and impact the next generation of hybrid cloud MLOps platforms. You’ll contribute to the RHOAI product, collaborate with open source communities, and gain hands-on experience in a paid, full-time internship based in Dublin with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Must be enrolled in an accredited university degree in computer science or a related technical field within the Republic of Ireland, with full-time availability from January through August 2027 for the entire internship duration.
• Growth mindset and willingness to learn
• Ability to give and receive feedback in a meaningful manner
• Passion for problem-solving and debugging technical issues
• Some working knowledge of Git usage and workflows
• Good understanding of scripting and programming with Python and Golang
• Basic understanding of Linux operating systems
• Familiarity with configuration management, automation tools, and containerisation technologies
• Active online presence (e.g. GitHub) with interest in community development is a plus
• Strong command of written and spoken English

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering tasks under the direction of an experienced engineer
• Become an active member of an agile development team (scrum and kanban)
• Learn to collaborate and innovate with other engineers
• Troubleshoot technical issues and help deliver creative solutions
• Work both independently, remotely, and with teammates
• Mentor a transition year student and transfer skills
• Contribute to the open-source community
• Present topics to the Cloud Services team at Lunch & Learn events
• Proactively use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate development cycles and improve code quality
