Job summary

Red Hat is seeking a Software Engineer Intern to join the Agent Operations team in Ireland. The program offers a paid, full-time internship based in Waterford or Dublin with flexible hours and a start date in January 2027.

You will contribute to AI agent infrastructure on Kubernetes/OpenShift and help shape secure, reliable deployment and governance of autonomous agents. You will work closely with an agile team, learn from experienced engineers, and participate in open-source projects while

Qualifications

Currently enrolled in an accredited university program in the Republic of Ireland for the full duration of the internship.
Proficiency with Python, Golang or Rust.
Experience with Linux basics.
Familiarity with Git workflows; Git workshops provided for interns.
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

Responsibilities

Perform engineering tasks under the direction of an experienced engineer.
Join an agile development team (Scrum/kanban) and collaborate with peers.
Learn to collaborate and innovate with other engineers.
Troubleshoot technical issues and deliver creative solutions.
Work both independently and with the team, including remote collaboration.
Mentor a transition year student and share skills with younger students.
Contribute to the open-source community.
Present on a topic at Lunch & Learn sessions for the Cloud Services team.
Proactively utilize AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code) to accelerate development and improve code quality.
