Job summary

Brightwater Executive partners with a leading international financial services organisation to appoint a Director of Data Governance. This senior role focuses on delivering data management, governance and quality initiatives across a complex EMEA environment with strong stakeholder engagement and technical knowledge.

The successful candidate will work with senior business and technology stakeholders, programme teams and specialist functions including Risk, Privacy and Information Security,

Qualifications

• At least five years' experience delivering Data Governance or Data Management initiatives.
• Strong knowledge of Data Governance and Data Quality practices, processes and supporting technology.
• Experience acting as a subject matter expert and providing guidance to stakeholders.
• Previous Data Governance experience within financial services or insurance.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex topics to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong influencing skills and the ability to create alignment across multiple teams.
• Experience managing or supporting complex, large-scale technical programmes involving several teams.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks, standards and processes across the region.
• Advise business and functional analysts on governance requirements and their practical implementation.
• Provide Data Governance expertise to programme teams when developing data solutions, delivery estimates and implementation plans.
• Work with stakeholders throughout the data lifecycle on ownership, accountability, stewardship and Data Quality.
• Support the identification and management of Data Quality issues.
• Build effective relationships across business, technology and specialist functions to encourage consistent governance practices.
• Maintain an interest in emerging technologies and opportunities to improve existing approaches.

The Opportunity A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior Data Governance professional to support the delivery of data management, governance and quality initiatives across a complex EMEA environment. The role combines strong technical knowledge of Data Governance with significant stakeholder engagement. Key areas include metadata management, data modelling, lineage, stewardship and technical Data Quality processes. The successful candidate will work closely with senior business and technology stakeholders, programme teams and specialist functions including Risk, Privacy and Information Security.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of Data Governance and Data Quality frameworks, standards and processes across the region.

Preferred Experience

• Degree in Data Management, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related discipline.
• Experience with Data Management platforms such as Ataccama, Collibra, and other similar platforms.
• Data Governance certification such as CDMC/EDMC DCAM or an equivalent recognised framework.
• Exposure to AI Data Governance.
