We are seeking an experienced Desktop Support Engineer to provide onsite technical support across end-user computing and workplace technology. This position extends beyond traditional deskside break/fix support. The successful candidate will combine strong enterprise desktop support experience with hands-on Microsoft SCCM expertise and experience in endpoint vulnerability remediation and security compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide onsite L2 support for endpoints, peripherals and workplace technology.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, Windows operating system and connectivity issues.
- Support device builds, replacements, refreshes, software installations and deployments.
- Provide onsite hands-and-feet support for remote infrastructure and resolver teams.
- Take ownership of onsite incidents and coordinate with the appropriate teams through to resolution.
- Troubleshoot Microsoft SCCM client health, communication, software installation and deployment failures.
- Support Windows security updates, patching, software distribution and endpoint remediation.
- Investigate and remediate vulnerable, non-compliant and unsuccessfully patched endpoints.
- Troubleshoot application and third-party software failures, including upgrading or removing vulnerable software.
- Validate successful deployments and endpoint remediation, supporting rescans and evidence gathering where required.
- Maintain accurate documentation and provide clear progress and status updates.
- Work closely with Security, EUC, Infrastructure, Network and Service Desk teams.
Required Skills and Experience
- Minimum of 5 years' relevant enterprise desktop or deskside support experience.
- Strong Windows 11 troubleshooting experience across endpoints and peripherals.
- Hands-on Microsoft SCCM experience, including client health, software distribution and deployment troubleshooting.
- Experience with Windows patching, endpoint vulnerability remediation and security compliance.
- Application installation, removal and troubleshooting experience within an enterprise environment.
- Working knowledge of Active Directory, Microsoft 365, OneDrive and networking fundamentals.
- Familiarity with Intune, Autopilot and PowerShell.
- Familiarity with BIOS, firmware and driver management.
- Strong ITSM skills, including incident ownership, documentation, communication and escalation.
The successful candidate will demonstrate strong technical troubleshooting capabilities, a high level of ownership and the ability to work effectively with both local users and remote technical teams.
