Job Description (JD)
Role Overview

The Design Manager will lead and oversee the end-to-end design process for multiple architectural projects, ensuring that all design outputs align with project objectives, client expectations, and regulatory standards. This role requires a strong balance of creative vision and technical expertise, along with the ability to manage teams and coordinate closely with key stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

The Design Manager is responsible for conceptualizing and delivering innovative design solutions that effectively combine functionality, visual appeal, and sustainability. This includes developing design concepts, presenting ideas to clients, and refining proposals based on feedback and project requirements. The role requires active participation in client meetings, design presentations, and site visits to ensure alignment and smooth communication across all stages of the project.

In collaboration with project managers and cross-functional teams, the Design Manager ensures that the design process is seamlessly integrated with overall project execution. The incumbent will lead to the coordination of design activities, ensuring that timelines, deliverables, and quality standards are consistently met.

The role also involves overseeing the preparation and review of detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards. Additionally, the Design Manager will be responsible for guiding and mentoring junior designers, fostering their technical growth and supporting the development of a high-performing design team.

Key Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess at least 10 years of relevant experience in architectural design, interior design, or construction-related fields, with proven experience in managing design teams and delivering complex projects. A strong portfolio demonstrating successful project delivery and innovative design solutions will be highly advantageous.

Candidates should have a solid understanding of design principles, construction methodologies, and regulatory requirements within the built environment. Proficiency in design and drafting tools (such as CAD, BIM, or other relevant software) is essential, along with the ability to produce and review detailed technical documentation.

Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills are critical for this role, as the candidate will be required to liaise with clients, consultants, and internal teams. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines is essential. A proactive mindset, attention to detail, and commitment to design excellence will contribute significantly to success in this position.
