Job summary

Gaia Talent is seeking an experienced Design Coordinator – Rail in Dublin to coordinate design across contracts and disciplines, ensuring interfaces, standards and programme objectives are met.

You will work with consultants, contractors and internal teams, promoting Safety in Design and robust design processes throughout delivery of a major rail programme.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering required.
• Significant infrastructure project delivery experience.
• Rail sector experience essential.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams across organisations.
• Strong understanding of rail systems and lifecycle activities.
• Knowledge of IS/BS/EN/NFPA and international standards.
• Experience with NEC, PPP or DBFOM contracts desirable.
• Analytical, organisational and stakeholder management skills.

The Opportunity

A leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Design Coordinator – Rail to support the delivery of a major rail infrastructure programme in Dublin.

Working alongside senior design and engineering leaders, you will coordinate design activities across multiple contracts and disciplines, ensuring technical interfaces, standards, quality requirements and programme objectives are effectively managed.

This role provides an opportunity to contribute to complex station, civil, structural and rail systems packages while working with consultants, contractors, statutory stakeholders and multidisciplinary technical teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate design development across multiple infrastructure and station packages, including civil, structural and rail systems.
• Support design integration across contractors, consultants and internal technical teams.
• Review design submissions for technical compliance, constructability and alignment with relevant standards.
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design deliverables and manage interfaces between contracts.
• Identify design risks and support appropriate mitigation strategies.
• Assist with design change management and maintain awareness of impacts across project interfaces.
• Support the preparation of engineering management plans, reports, presentations and design schedules.
• Promote strong Safety in Design principles, including hazard identification and risk mitigation.
• Support the development of quality assurance processes and high-performance design management practices.
• Liaise with contractors, consultants, regulatory bodies, stakeholders and internal teams.
• Contribute to procurement and contract-related design activities.
• Support technical assurance throughout design development and construction.

About You

• Degree or equivalent qualification in an Engineering discipline.
• Significant experience delivering major infrastructure projects through design and construction phases.
• Previous experience within the rail sector is essential.
• Experience with heavy civil and structural infrastructure projects.
• Proven experience coordinating multidisciplinary design teams and deliverables across multiple organisations.
• Strong understanding of rail systems and systems engineering lifecycle activities.
• Knowledge of urban infrastructure including utilities, highways and landscaping.
• Understanding of relevant IS, BS, EN, NFPA and international standards.
• Experience with NEC, PPP or DBFOM contracts is desirable.
• Strong analytical, organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to influence technical and non-technical stakeholders and work collaboratively across complex project environments.
