Job summary

CareerWise Recruitment is seeking a Design Automation Engineer for our multinational medical device client in Galway. This 12-month onsite contract role focuses on troubleshooting automated manufacturing lines and supporting equipment installation and startup.

The successful candidate will investigate downtime, perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to improve performance and reliability across the line.

Qualifications

• Bachelors or higher in Engineering/Science or related field.
• Minimum 3+ years in a relevant industry.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell).

Responsibilities

• Investigate downtime and perform root cause analysis.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment reliability.
• Support installation, commissioning and startup of automation equipment.
• Provide hands-on support during hypercare or ramp-up phases.
• Assist with software, controls and system-level debugging.
• Integrate electrical, mechanical, hardware and software components.
• Support validation, verification and change control activities.
