Job summary

Hero Recruitment Group seeks a Design Automation Engineer II for a Galway onsite contract role (12 months). The role focuses on automation, controls, troubleshooting and continuous improvement across automated production equipment.

You will support installation, commissioning and start-up, mentor junior engineers and collaborate cross-functionally to deliver robust automation solutions. The ideal candidate has demonstrated automation/controls experience, strong hands-on troubleshooting skills in

Qualifications

• Automation/controls engineering experience.
• Hands-on troubleshooting in manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting automated equipment and production lines.
• Diagnosing issues across electrical, mechanical and software domains.
• Experience in regulated industry (medical device preferred).
• Coaching/mentoring experience with junior engineers.
• Strong problem-solving, communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and resolve issues on automated manufacturing lines.
• Investigate downtime and perform root-cause analysis.
• Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve performance.
• Support installation, commissioning and start-up of new automation equipment.
• Provide hands-on support during hypercare and ramp-up.
• Assist with software, controls and system debugging.
• Integrate electrical, mechanical, hardware and software.
• Contribute to equipment improvements and CI initiatives.
• Support validation, verification and change control activities.
• Maintain technical documentation and update procedures.
