Job summary

CareerWise Recruitment seeks a Design Automation Engineer for our multinational medical device client in Galway on a 12-month onsite contract. The role focuses on troubleshooting and resolving issues on automated manufacturing lines to maintain throughput and quality.

Key responsibilities include downtime investigation, corrective actions, commissioning and startup of automation equipment, and hands-on hypercare support across hardware, software and controls. A strong PLC background is essential.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering/Science or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years in a relevant industry.
  • Experience with PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell).

Responsibilities

  • Investigate equipment downtime and assist with root cause analysis.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions to improve equipment performance and reliability.
  • Support installation, commissioning, and startup of new or modified automation equipment.
  • Provide hands-on support during hypercare or production ramp-up phases.
  • Assist with software, controls, and system-level debugging.
  • Support integration of electrical, mechanical, hardware, and software components.
  • Contribute to equipment improvement, standardisation, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support validation, verification, and change control activities as required.

Job description

A Design Automation Engineer is required by CareerWise Recruitment for our multinational medical device client in Galway for an initial 12-month contract in an onsite role. The Design Automation Engineer will support troubleshooting and problem resolution on automated manufacturing lines.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree L8 in Engineering/Science or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3+ years in a relevant industry.
  • Experience with PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley / Rockwell).
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and machine documentation.
  • Experience with commissioning, testing, and equipment support activities.
