Job summary

TerraGlen Residential Care Services in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford seeks a Deputy Social Care Manager to lead the team and support the Person In Charge. The role focuses on maintaining high standards of social work, safeguarding, and quality assurance within the organisation.

You will supervise staff, oversee audits, support service users through individualised plans, and ensure training and compliance with regulations. Garda Vetting will be required for successful candidates.

Qualifications

• A degree in Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Teaching or Social Sciences or related field.
• 3 years’ experience in social care with children; experience with adults with disabilities/complex needs.
• Sufficient knowledge of social care principles and basic management concepts.

Responsibilities

• Supervise social care staff and deputise for the Manager; lead the team in their absence and support staff through supervision and workload management.
• Ensure HIQA, New Directions, and company standards are met; oversee audits, inspections, administration, and quality reporting.
• Support service users through individualised plans; promote independence, community involvement, and manage behaviours of concern with positive behaviour support.
• Conduct and monitor health and safety checks, risk assessments, and safeguarding responsibilities; report and record accurately.
• Organise and deliver staff training, set goals in supervision, and ensure all mandatory training is completed.
• Build rapport with service users and families; chair meetings, maintain confidentiality (GDPR), and follow financial procedures.

Job Purpose

The Deputy Social Care Manager is required to fulfil the running of the service in support of the Person In Charge. The Deputy Social Care Manager is expected to build and maintain high standards of social work practice within the service and ultimately the organisation as a whole.

Your Role and Responsibilities

What You'll Need

Qualifications requirements

• A degree in Psychology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Youth and Community Work, Social Work, Social Sciences, Teaching or Nursing,
• Sufficient experience with working and managing within social care sector.
• 3 years’ experience of working at social care grade with children. Sufficient experience with adults with disabilities/children with disabilities/complex needs.
• A thorough knowledge of the principles and practice of social care.
• An understanding of basic management principles.

Vetting Requirement

• Successful candidates will be subject to Garda Vetting through Tusla and the National Vetting Bureau
